12 Girls Band was founded in June, 2001. She is such a popular artistic party as combines China's traditional musical instruments with modalities of modern popular musical performances. With dainty musical rhythms and passionate performances, she manages to enlarge the group of people who enjoy Chinese folk instrumental music, and thus develops Chinese folk music both home and abroad.
The members of 12 Girls Band have come from such famous artistic colleges and universities as Central Conservatory of Music, China Conservatory, Central University for Nationalities and PLA Art College. Their musical instruments mainly include those Chinese musical instruments like guzheng, dulcimer, pipa, erhu, zhudi, xiao, hulusi, duxianqin etc.
Beijing Shi Ji Xing Die Cultural Communication Limited Company is the broker for 12 Girls Band. Mr. Wang Xiaojing, the general manager of the company, is the founder of the band. Since early in 1997, Mr. Wang Xiaojing has begun to think about such a question as how to package up Chinese folk music so that it could win a larger audience and enter the international market of the mainstream music. After many years of serious thinking and discussing with his good friends in the artistic community, he came up with an entirely new performing modality for folk music. That is 12 Girls Band, which is now extraordinarily popular both home and abroad.
